Most cruise ship have the same policy regarding tipping of the service staff. In the past, tipping has been considered "optional", and to some degree, it still is up to you. However, the ship personnel really expect the gratuities from each passenger.
Most cruise lines' policy is that a fixed service charge of $10 per person, per day will be added to your on-board account. There is no other gratuity required or recommended so you should not feel obliged to offer a gratuity for service that is generally rendered to all guests. However, is any of the service staff goes the "extra mile" for you, they are permitted to accept cash gratuities if you care to offer them. There is a service charge of 18% for all spa and salon services.
If you have a problem with any service you have received, you are encouraged to let the reception desk staff know right away so it can be resolved.
